Chiesa di San Giorgio Maggiore, Naples
The church of San Giorgio Maggiore is a Catholic church in the city centre of Naples, very close to the church of St Severo al Pendino and the Palazzo Domo. It preserves the relics of San Severo inside a Roman column.
About this building
The current building was largely reconstructed in 1640 after a fire consumed part of the church. One of its naves was demolished in the 19th century to make room for the extension of the Via Duomo. It preserves original artistic works from the 17th and 18th centuries.
