All Saints Church, Ramsholt

All Saints church is located in Ramsholt, a deserted village in Suffolk on the northern shores of the River Deben estuary. Today, only the church, a pub on the river and a farmouse remain. It is probably the most beautifully located of all Round Tower Churches.

St Peter by the Waterfront

St Peter's is mentioned in the Domesday Survey in 1086, suggesting that there was a church on this site then. The current building dates from the 15th century and was taken over by Cardinal Wolsey to become his College chapel and the parishioners had to either go to the neighbouring St Nicholas or St Mary Quay. Wolsey ordered several improvements to St Peter's but when he fell from grace the parishioners got their church back in 1537.

St Peter & St Paul

St Peter & St Paul is on the east coast of Suffolk and looks out to sea. It is rich in history, and there is a magnificent window by John Piper in memory of Benjamin Britten. The tower is the oldest part of the church, and it is such a notable local landmark hat it was used for many years by mariners to pilot their ships.
