Parish Church of St. Augustine and St. John the Baptist
The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Augustine and St. John the Baptist is part of one the largest historic complexes in Krakow after the Wawel castle. The church is adjacent to the Monastery of the Norbertines.
About this building
The Norbertines are the oldest female religious congregation in Poland. Their monastery in Krakow dates back to the 12th century. The monastery's first church, built in 1162, was dedicated to St. Norbert. The church burned down during the siege of Krakow in 1527 and in 1587. The present building is the result of reconstruction carried out by Jan Trewano and Jan Petrini between 1596 and 1626.
