About this building

The Norbertines are the oldest female religious congregation in Poland. Their monastery in Krakow dates back to the 12th century. The monastery's first church, built in 1162, was dedicated to St. Norbert. The church burned down during the siege of Krakow in 1527 and in 1587. The present building is the result of reconstruction carried out by Jan Trewano and Jan Petrini between 1596 and 1626.

Church of Divine Mercy, Krakow

The Roman Catholic church of Divine Mercy dates from the 16th century. It was originally a wooden church. After being destroyed during the 17th century during the Swedish Deluge, the church was erected in stone. Its current appearance is the result of extensive renovation work carried out between 1905 and 1910 under the direction of the architect Jan Sas-Zubrzycki.
