Modern church with tower.
Modern church with tower.
Built as a Reformed Church. Interesting Reformed church building with a tower. In 1846, a church hall was built behind a house (the rectory) for the Separatists of the Reformed Church Midwolde-Leek. In 1908, the building was renovated and enlarged and the rectory was built next to the church.
Herv. Chapel. Situated on the filled-in harbour, simple hall building from 1660, with pointed arch windows and roof turret in the middle of the ridge. On it a weather vane with Eusum coats of arms (Anna Eusum died in 1714). Extension from 1932. Extensively restored around 1965. Restored again after a fire in 2000. In the church a well-carved pulpit tub with stairs and a beautiful sounding board, 1752. On the tub a lectern, matching baptismal fence. Baptismal bowls on an iron base. Copper baptismal bowl beige.
This church has played an important role in the community: its decorations commemorate many important local residents, and it has also been used as a schoolhouse for local children.
