The church of Santo Ildefonso was rebuilt from 1730 to 1739, the first church (dating from the 13th century) having been found in ruins. Its facade is covered with azulejos.
The beginning of the construction of the Porto Cathedral dates back to the first half of the twelfth century and continued until the beginning of the thirteenth century. This first Romanesque building has undergone many changes over the centuries; especially during the Gothic period (fourteenth century) during the construction of the cloister.
