The Piarist Church, originally known as the Cluj Jesuit Church or University Church, is the first Catholic church built in Transylvania after the Protestant Reformation (16th century). The church, built between 1718 and 1724, is a Baroque architectural ensemble where the central building of Babeş-Bolyai University is located today.
The Bob Church is the first Greco-Catholic church built in Cluj and the oldest Romanian church in the city. The name of the church comes from the bishop Ioan Bob, Romanian nobleman, at whose expense the place of worship was erected between 1801 and 1803. The building is listed as a historical monument in Cluj.
The Baroque Cathedral of the Transfiguration was built between 1775 and 1779 by the "Minorites", a branch of the Franciscans. Testimony of Romania's turbulent history of the twentieth century, the church belonged successively to the Catholic Church, the Greek Catholic Church (1924) the Romanian Catholic Church (1948) and to the Greek Catholic Church again (1998).
The Orthodox Cathedral of Cluj-Napoca was built between 1920 and 1930, immediately after the union between Transylvania and Romania. The Brâncovenesc style building is classified as a historical monument.
