Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Anne

Liepājas Catholic Cathedral was first built in stone in 1747 as a parish church dedicated to St. Joseph, but as the town grew, the number of Catholics increased and the old church became narrow. The church was therefore enlarged from 1893 to 1911, in brick and in the neo-Romanesque style. It was not until 1938 that the church became a cathedral.

The Holy Trinity Cathedral is the Lutheran Cathedral of Liepāja. The cathedral was built between 1742 and 1758. From 1865 to 1866, the first major reconstruction of the building took place according to Otto Dietze's design. The interior and exterior architecture of the church is in the late Baroque style with elements of Classicism. The interior of the cathedral is characterised by the luxury and saturation characteristic of the Rococo style.

This church, constructed in the 17th-century Russian style, was built as the cathedral church for the Russian navy stationed in Liepaja. Tsar Nicolas II himself was present at the cornerstone laying ceremony in 1901. During the first World War, all of the church's moveable items were transferred to Russia, and the church was converted to a Lutheran church after Latvia's independence in 1918. During Soviet occupation, this section of the city of Liepaja was sectioned off as a secret Naval quarter, where only the military was allowed. During this time, the church was used as a gymnasium and a movie theatre. Today the church is operated by the Latvian Orthodox Church, under the Russian Orthodox church.
