Church of Saint-Félix

The Church of Saint-Félix is located in Valcebollère, in Occitania. The municipality of Cerdanya, near the Spanish border, is part of the Regional Natural Park of Catalan Pyrenees which extends to an altitude of 1,520 meters. The Saint-Félix church, which is mentioned as a dependency of the parish Saint-Pierre-d'Osséja since the 13th century, was consecrated in 1219. It was rebuilt several times in the 18th and 19th centuries.
It is a single-nave building that ends in a flat chevet bordered to the north and south-east by chapels. It is accessed from the south, thanks to a semicircular entrance. The bell tower dates from 1867.
The church houses valuable furniture including a remarkable statue of Saint Hilaire from the now ruined Chapel of Puig. It was the central element of an altarpiece that is now kept in the palace of the kings of Majorca. Its construction is attributed to Antoine Peytavi and Jean Perles. Made around 1685, it consists of nine painted panels dating from the early sixteenth century.
