Church of Saint Theobald, Thann
This church is a major work of late Gothic architecture in Alsace. The college owes its name to the college of canons who came to settle there in 1442. The central vessel, without triforium, typical for the southwest of the empire, can be linked with the Collegiate Church of Colmar and the Cathedral of Ulm.
About this building
The front gate measures 18m high and 8m wide. The two portals with archivolts, extrados with characters and eardrums are surmounted by another, larger, composed of three archivolts and a tympanum in five parts. The choir presents the largest set of stained glass windows from the 15th century which is preserved in Alsace.
