Marum Church
The church is one of the oldest brickwork buildings in the province and has retained its Romanesque shape for almost 800 years. Two large buttresses were installed in the 18th century to prevent subsidence of the walls.
About this building
Inside the church is a gentleman's bench from the first quarter of the eighteenth century and a pulpit from 1826. The nave of the church is small in size compared to the choir built against the vessel. In the mid-16th century the tower was raised with a bell-attic and the current hood was placed on the vessel. The north façade was completely reworked, probably in 1770.
The church has not been used for worship since 2008. Nowadays the church is open for viewing. It is also the start of a very nice walking route, "The White Nun Trail". The walk starts from the morgue.
