Kurshumlu Mosque

Kurshumlu Mosque is of the so-called "sultan type". The prayer hall is covered with a massive stone dome, which is "placed" on a square base and four pandadives . The dome has a two-layer construction of stone and bricks. The mural decoration dates from the period 1730 - 1800 and is executed extremely professionally. It is mostly concentrated in the richly painted walls, in the ceiling and in the carpeted floor. The decoration of the interior walls is made of colored stones, as well as the masonry of the windows and doors. The mosque is considered the third most important in northeastern Bulgaria, after Shumen's Tombul Mosque and Razgrad's Ibrahim Pasha Mosque .
