The Randaberg church was built in 1845 to bring Randaberg together into a parish at the expense of the two medieval churches of Viste and Randabergkirken. Part of the building materials came from the Stave church which was located on Randaberg.

The foundation wall and the lower floor of the church were completed by January 1977, and on January 29, the new bishop of the diocese, Sigurd Lunde, laid the foundation stone in the new church.
