Pilgrimage Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, Marianka

On the western side of the Little Carpathians lies the village of Marianka, which is one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in Slovakia. In the valley stood the Pavlín monastery, founded in 1377, where many pilgrimages took place after its establishment. However, even before its construction, numerous pilgrims brought here legends about the statue of the Virgin Mary and the miraculous spring.

Church of the Holy Cross, Devín

The parish church of the Holy Cross from the 13th century, which has undergone several architectural reconstructions and represents an interesting combination of Gothic and Baroque styles. A large burial ground from the times of Great Moravia has been uncovered in its surroundings. The discovery of a tombstone with rich symbolism has led to speculation that it is here that Saint Methodius is buried.

St. Sebastian's Cathedral

St. Sebastian's Cathedral is the main church of the Ordinariate of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic. The newly built cathedral in Bratislava-Krasňany was elevated to the status of a cathedral of the Military Ordinariate in 2009. This modernist church was designed by the architect Ladislav Bánhegyi.
