Basilique Notre-Dame de Gray

The Notre-Dame de Gray basilica is the parish church of the town of Gray, in Franche-Comte. Attached to the diocese of Besancon, it is part of the parish of Notre-Dame de Gray. It was built in the 15th and 16th centuries, in a hybrid Gothic-Renaissance style, on the site of the first Notre-Dame church destroyed in 1477 during the War of the Burgundy Succession. Since 1641 it has housed the heart of Saint Pierre Fourier and since 1802 the miraculous statue of Notre-Dame de Gray. The possession of these two relics earned him the elevation to the title of minor basilica on July 16, 1948 by Pope Pius XII.

Church of Notre-Dame

The Notre-Dame church dominates the centre of Auxonne with its octagonal twisted bell tower, dating from its restoration in the 19th century. But most of the church is in Gothic style, patiently erected from the 13th to the 16th century. You can also admire the remarkable gargoyles and statues on the façade. Inside, the church conceals a rather singular work: the Virgin with the Grapes, a masterpiece of Burgundian art from the 15th century, and the Callinet organs.

Church of Saint-Pierre

The Saint-Pierre church is located in Menotey, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. It was built in the Middle Ages and modified in the XVI-XVII and XIX century. In 1354, the church was listed among the outbuildings of the priory of Saint-Vivant, and dependent on Cluny. The polychrome entrance door, interior Burgundy paintings and sculptures, the pulpit and tombstones are remarkable.
