St Patrick's Church, Wicklow
The construction of St Patrick's Church began in 1840 and the first mass was celebrated in 1844. The task of building a new parish church was undertaken by Archdeacon Grant.
About this building
The remains of Archdeacon Grant and his successor Father Patrick O' Doherty, remebered for bringing the Dominican Community to Wicklow, rest in the vault in front of the High Altar of Caen stone. The Bell, which have a range of five miles away, is one of the finest in Ireland.
