Novo Mesto Cathedral
Novo Mesto Cathedral only became a cathedral in 2006, the year before it was known as the parish church of St. Nicholas. The building is first mentioned in 1428, the Gothic presbytery probably dates from the 16th century.

The Pleterje Charterhouse, is a monastery of the Order of Carthusian founded in 1403. Pleterje is the last established Slovenian charterhouse, the only one still in activity.
The Basilica of Our Lady of Lourdes, nicknamed the Slovenian Lourdes, is one of the largest churches in Slovenia. It was built between 1908 and 1914 in the neo-Romanesque style. In 1911 the church was painted by Osvaldo Bierti, and the images of the rosary are the work of the academic painter Peter Markovič.
The Stična Abbey, dating back to 1132, is one of the oldest monasteries in Slovenia. Today, despite its closure (between 1784 and 1898), it still serves as a monastery for the Cistercian order.
