Novo Mesto Cathedral only became a cathedral in 2006, the year before it was known as the parish church of St. Nicholas. The building is first mentioned in 1428, the Gothic presbytery probably dates from the 16th century.
The Basilica of Our Lady of Lourdes, nicknamed the Slovenian Lourdes, is one of the largest churches in Slovenia. It was built between 1908 and 1914 in the neo-Romanesque style. In 1911 the church was painted by Osvaldo Bierti, and the images of the rosary are the work of the academic painter Peter Markovič.
The chapel was built in 1835, and in 1990 it was thoroughly renovated by the faithful of Ruda and Samobor. Immediately after the Second World War, a statue of St. Nicholas, the chapel was neglected, but still no one dared to demolish it. During the renovation, a new statue was made in the Pleterje Carthusian Monastery in Slovenia.
