Onze Lieve Vrouw Onbevlekt Ontvangen

The church is part of a complex; until 1976 the monastery complex of the Oblate Fathers, from 1976 the Penitentiary Institution "Ter Peel". The church is situated in a park-like (monastery) garden, vegetable garden and (formerly) orchards, according to the design of landscape architects Van Loo from Terwinselen (1947). Only the entrance to the church has remained outside the fences of the penitentiary institution.

Protestant church

The Protestant Church in Helenaveen is a simple hall-shaped church building that shows elements of the Waterstaat style in its architecture. The building dates from 1867 and has survived the years virtually unchanged. In 1883, a large memorial stone was built into the front facade, on the occasion of the death of the preacher Swalue.

The tower fell on the old town hall and completely destroyed it. The tower was completely destroyed, the vaults of the church had collapsed, several pillars were completely destroyed, the outer walls were crooked, two-thirds of the roof had disappeared and the rest was badly damaged. The beautiful new organ, the confessionals, pews, Stations of the Cross and statues were crushed. After the war, it was decided to demolish the remains of the church.
