Rjukan Church

The Rjukan church, which was built in connection with Norsk Hydro's industrial establishment in the Vestfjord valley, has ashlar facades. It was built in 1914-15 according to the plans of the architects Berner & Berner, and is characterised by the neo-Romanesque and neo-Baroque forms of the time. The church burned down in 1965 during the filming of the British film "The Heroes of Telemark", but was subsequently renovated and reopened in 1968. Asbjørn Stein was the architect of the restoration.
