Saint Pantaleon's Church, Chisinau
Saint Pantaleon's Church (Biserica Sfântul Pantelimon) is a neo-Byzantine church designed by architect Alexandru Bernardazzi in 1891.
About this building
The church was founded by the sons of Pantelion Sinadino, who was mayor of the city twice: from 1837 to 1839 and from 1840 to 1842. Several members of the Sinadino family were buried here, although their tombs were destroyed by the Soviets. During the Soviet era, the church was first used as a warehouse and later as an exhibition hall and liquor tasting room. The first mass after the Soviet rule took place in 1992.
