Sauherad Church

The Sauherad Church was built between 1150 and 1250 and is dedicated to Saint Lawrence. It has a rectangular nave and a narrower choir at the right end. In 1781 the nave was extended to the west. The south portals of the choir and the nave have been preserved, but the portal of the nave has been somewhat modified. In 1830, the church was redesigned by architect Linstow. The frescoes in the church hall were discovered and restored in the 1940s and 1950s by Gerhard Gotaas.

The church of Nes is a Romanesque stone church with a rectangular nave and a lower, narrower choir. To the west is a tower and next to the choir is a sacristy. The nave has a south and west portal and the choir has a south portal. It is especially the decoration of these three portals that makes the church so special. They are richly decorated with reliefs of figures. The portals also have other ornaments, columns and decorated chapters.

Old Bø Church

The old church of Bø is a medieval stone church, built between 1150 and 1180, with a long church plan and a choir to the east. The nave, the choir and the semicircular end of the choir, the apse, are both from the Middle Ages, while the porch was built in the 17th century and the bridle roof in the early 19th century. After the Reformation, the interior of the church was rebuilt, with a gallery along the north and west walls, a pulpit and a new altarpiece, all in Renaissance style.
