Silte Church

Silte Church is one of the 92 medieval churches on the island of Gotland. It dates back to the 13th century and has preserved most of its original elements unaltered.

About this building

Its interior preserves medieval murals from three different periods: the first, from the 13th century, when the church was built; the second, between the 14th and 15th centuries; and the last, from the 16th century. Also original from the Romanesque church are the altarpiece, the baptismal font, the window openings (quite unusual to find), and some stained-glass panels.
