About this building
The copper sheeting of the roof and towers was removed during the Second World War to be used for military purposes. The building was restored in 1956 but without appropriate repair of the roof and masonry, it rapidly deteriorated. By the 1970s, the church had fallen into disrepair. In the 1980s the building was no longer used for safety reasons. The church received funds for its restoration which took place during the 1990s. The reopening took place in November 2000.
