Although the church of St. Neže has Romanesque origins, the church got its present exterior around 1879. Above the sacristy, there is a bell tower with one of the oldest bells in Gorenjska dating from 1423. On the outer facade of the church, there is a fragment of a late Gothic fresco depicting the patron saint of pilgrims, St. Christopher, and a Romanesque semicircular window.
The Benedictine monastery in Gornji Grad was founded in 1140 and was dissolved in 1473 (after 333 years). Due to the moral decline of the monastery and the reduction in the number of monks due to the Turkish invasions - the Turks devastated Gornji Grad in 1471 - the Pope formally dissolved the monastery in 1473 at the suggestion of Bishop Lamberg. The old church of the monastery was demolished in 1752-1760, making way for the church of Sv. Mohor and Fortunato, which is beautifully preserved to this day.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception of Mary is a reconstruction of 1734 (fires and earthquakes destroyed previous churches). The free-standing bell tower belongs to the original Gothic church, which was here as early as 1207.
