Calvary Mount Church, Bad Ischl

The Calvary Mount Church (Kalvarienbergkirche) is an 18th-century church built on a small hill overlooking the spa town of Bad-Ischl.

About this building

The "Kalvarienbergkirche” was built between 1704 and 1706. A distinctive feature of its facade is the series of nine life-sized terracotta figures representing the “judgement of Jesus". The church has also preserved the original Baroque fresco on its ceiling.

In its surroundings, there are four station chapels dedicated to four different Biblical scenes:  the "Jesus' farewell to his Mother", the "Mount of Olives" scene, the "Way of the Cross Chapel" and the "Holy Ascension”.
