The Church of the Great Mother of God is a monumental church that was commissioned by Pope Pius XI in 1931 to commemorate the 15th centenary of the Council of Ephesus (431). It was built between 1931 and 1933 to a design by the architect Cesare Bazzani, executed by Clemente Busiri Vici, and consecrated in 1937 by Bishop Francesco Beretti.
Sant'Andrea a Ponte Milvio is an oratory built in the 15th century next to an aedicula with a statue of St. Andrew, erected by Pius II (1458-1464) in memory of the ceremony that took place here on 11 April 1462, when the Pope went to meet Cardinal Bessarione carrying the head of the apostle Andrew. The relic had been saved by Tommaso Paleologo, despot of Patras, who had fled to avoid the Turks. Today the church is a subsidiary place of worship of the parish of Santa Croce in Via Flaminia.
The Church of St. Lucia was built in 1938 and designed by the Roman architect Tullio Rossi, author of several churches built in the capital between 1930 and 1960. Important restorations were carried out in the 1990s, with the construction of a new presbytery and the Adoration chapel.
The church of Santa Maria della Pace ai Parioli is the main church of Opus Dei, where the remains of its founder are kept. The church was built between 1954 and 1959 to a design by the young architect Jesús Álvarez Gazapo. The church consists of a single nave with the raised area of the presbytery where the high altar is located, in which the remains of Josemaría Escrivá (1902-1975) are kept.
