About this building
Located in Devillac in Lot-et-Garonne, the parish church of St. Bartholomew dates from the twelfth century. The small cemetery that surrounds it is itself surrounded by a wall of Romanesque style. The building is composed of a single nave ending in a round Romanesque apse.
In the 16th century, while the nave was undergoing major reconstruction work, a triangular wall-tower was added, which I decorated with a round skylight. The chapel to the north dates from this period, and the former presbytery, which dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries, is connected to the south of the church. This charming church is decorated with several paintings and has some stained glass windows.
The peculiarity of this building lies mainly in the old slate roof (flat stones) placed on a stone vault, above the choir.
