About this building
The church Saint-Germier is located in Sabonnères, in Occitania, in one of the best preserved villages of Savès. Sabonnères is surrounded by moats that protect, in their center, the castle of Comenges, whose foundations were discovered in 1937. The first mention of the village of Sabonnères dates to 1027, when the donation of the church of Sabonnères at the abbey of Lézat was recorded. In 1125, it all passed to the chapter of Saint-Etienne of Toulouse.
The current church was built in the 16th century. In the nineteenth century some developments were made: the church was fully painted, and the south porch was landscaped. The Saint-Germain church is composed of a nave with three vaulted arches above which there is an imposing five arched bell tower. To the east is a choir at the chevet. Four chapels frame the second and third bays of the nave, while two sacristies frame the choir. A side porch allows access to the church.
The masonry (19th century) of the church consist of fairground bricks and the entire facing is made of fired bricks. Its cover is in tile channel.
