Church of Saints Constantine and Helen, Chisinau

The Church of Saints Constantine and Helen was built in 1777 as a cemetery church. Its library has preserved church books and documents written in Greek, Romanian and Slavonic. It is listed in the Register of monuments of national and municipal importance in Chisinau.

About this building

The church was originally named the Resurrection of the Lord.  Its name was changed in 1834 at the request of Constantin Râșcanu, son of Constantin Râscanu who had founded the church. It now bears the names of the founder and his mother, Elena.

The cemetery next to the church is the burial place of important Moldavian noble families, such as the Rascanu, Donici, Krupenscki, Russo, Krupenscki and Russo families.
