The Church of St John the Baptist was probably built in the third quarter of the 13th century, making it one of the oldest churches in Järva County. The stone church was preceded by a wooden church built by the Danes. Originally it was a Gothic-style church with a single nave and no tower. The neo-Gothic tower was not built according to the design of Johann Gottfried Mühlhausen until 1881.
St. Peter's Church was probably built at the end of the 13th century and was completed at the beginning of the 14th century, making it one of the youngest churches in Järva County. The church tower was originally only one storey higher than the wall of the long building.
St. Matthew's Church was built in the 14th century. It is the smallest church in the Järva County. The church tower was built in 1858.
Ambla Church is the oldest church in Järva County and one of the oldest in Central Estonia. The construction of the church was probably started by the Livonian order in the middle of the 13th century and was completed around 1270. The church was also a fortress, being located far from the centre of Järva County, where the Livonian Order had the Paid Order castle built in 1265. The rose windows in the west wall was one of the first in Estonia.
