More than 800 years old and situated in the midst of the Stowe Estate, to the south west of the house, it is intentionally hidden by evergreens planted by Lord Cobham to conceal the church and is all that is left of the medieval village from the mansion.

Strahov Monastery is an abbey of the Premonstratensian order founded in 1143. After a devastating fire in 1258, the entire complex was rebuilt within a few years. The Hussite wars of the 15th century, the Thirty Years' War and the War of Austrian Succession in 1741 caused further damage. The monastery is famous for its library dating from the 17th (theological room) and 18th century (philosophical room). It houses many unique specimens, prints, manuscripts, engravings and maps. One of the greatest treasures is the "Strahov Gospels", a manuscript from the 9th and 10th centuries.

Strand Church is a relatively simple and small long church, built in 1863 according to the plans of the architect J.W. Nordan. The church is patched and panelled and has a tower on the west side dating from 1895. The wooden walls were painted yellow in 1953.

The Strand church is a cruciform wooden church that was built in Svenes between 1702 and 1735. It was moved to Strand in 1859-60. During this move, the church underwent several changes. The tower, which was originally located at the western end, was moved to the middle. The church was panelled on the outside and inside and the windows were enlarged. John Stenersen was responsible for the design after the move.

Stranda Church is an octagonal wooden church, built in 1838. In 1904, the church underwent extensive renovation, among other things, the choir was panelled, the window was enlarged and the pews were replaced. In 1927, the choir was enlarged and a sacristy was built. The mural painting of the choir was made by Jonas Peson in the 1940s.

Strandarkirkja was built in 1888 and reconsecrated after renovations in 1968 and again in 1996. Many legends exist about the foundation of the first Strandarkirkja in the Middle Ages. Some say that the church was built by Gissur Teitsson, a famous Icelandic chieftain, others say that it was built with wood from the ship of a sailor lost at sea who had promised to donate all his wood for the construction of a church where it would be safely beached.
