The primitive hermitage at Alto da Mãe de Deus was built on the initiative of Diogo Afonso da Costa Columbreiro, who had his residence nearby. In the context of the First World War, this temple was demolished in 1915, on the grounds that it could serve as a target for German submarines. Its tiles were collected at the time from the Ponta Delgada Museum.

Closed since the 1996 earthquake, this adorable church overlooks a beautiful landscape. The Nostra-Senyora-de-Las-Grades-de-Marcevol Church or Notre-Dame des Escaliers de Marcevol is a Romanesque (Lombardian) church built in the 11th century, with an unique nave and northern and western blind facades. The church features a southern facade dominated by a small steeple. A fortified wall added in the sixteenth century protects access to the church.

The Church of Notre-Dame de Buire-au-Bois was built during the 18th century. It was founded by the nuns of the royal Cistercian abbey at Willencourt less than 10 kilometres from the village. The size of the buildings was to show their importance in the 18th century, a century of major monastic rebuilding.

The church is built on an ancient temple dedicated to Minerva. The site will be occupied by nuns in 1033, then there will be several periods of destruction and reconstruction. In 1060 the building is attached to the Abbey of Saint Victor. It will still be demolished during the revolution because it was used for political meetings. It was rebuilt under the July monarchy. Today only the bell tower remains, the latter was classified as a historical monument in 1964.

In 1285, some religious obtained permission to settle in the city. The construction of this convent and its church was carried out in part thanks to a bequest of June 2, 1361 from Guillaume André, prior of their order, and the building, which was in danger of ruin, was rebuilt in the 17th century. The first stone was laid on November 10, 1603 by Bishop Frédéric Ragueneau and the presbytery was completed in 1619.

The church of Notre Dame du Cap Lihou was built between 1628 and 1771 on top of an old granite chapel from the 11th century. After taking possession of Cap Lihou, the English built a church in 1440, together with the fortress. The granite was brought from Chausey in barges. The bell tower and the bays between the transept and the choir date from this period.
