Follingbo Church

Follingbo Church is one of the 92 medieval churches on the island of Gotland.

About this building

The church was built in the 13th century and it is one of the best examples of Romanesque and Gothic in Gotland. The sacristy was added in 182.1

The ceiling of the church was painted in the 17th century. The church houses a medieval baptismal font and an altarpiece from the 18th century. The pulpit dates from the 17th century and belonged belonged to the church of Visborg Castle. It was moved to Follingbo Church when the castle was demolished.

Akebäck Church

A romaneque church from the 12th century, the place of worship has an almost square choir, a semi-circular apse and a rectangular nave. The vault is inlaid with original ceramic pots to improve the acoustics.

Barlingbo Church

The current church was founded in c. 1280. It has three portals, two of which are in Gothic style and one, the oldest, which is still in the Romanesque tradition. There are also Gothic windows with still extant stained glass from c. 1280 in the apse and the south façade, one of only a few instances of preserved medieval stained glass in Sweden in situ.
