Mikalojus Jonavicius K??sgaila was built in 1523. in a will left part of the property to Skirsnemune church. 1636 the village of Geisiai was donated to it, a parish was established. 1791 a new church was built. After 1818. the fire church was rebuilt. 1841 There were 2 priests living in Skirsnemune, 8 parishes and 3 variegated lands belonged to the parish.

Although the parish of Jurbarkas became self-sufficient only in 1851, its past dates back to much older times. Until then, Jurbarkas was a branch of Taurage parish, which was served by the priests of this parish.

The history of the Jurbarkas Catholic Church began in 1430, when the first wooden church was built by the care of Bishop Mikalojus DzieSgovicius. The oldest information about this church is found in Bishop Motiejus Valancius in 1848. published in "Samogitian, Diocese". The Catholic parish of Jurbarkas was formed a little later - in 1502. Queen Bonn ordered Deputy John to build a new church. To maintain her servants and school, Bona allocated 6 acres of land. There was also a rectory near the church. Jurbarkas school in 1557. founded by the pastor Martynas Hermanavicius.
