Simple modern church with small bell tower. The church is located in a new residential area on the northwest side of the town of Brunssum, on the Florence Nightingalestraat. A community center was built against the church at the back. The church was dedicated to the Holy Spirit. The small tower, to the left of the church, was replaced at some point (when?) by the current one.

Onbevlekt Hart van Maria (Fatima)

Immediately after the Second World War, the growing municipality of Brunssum felt the need to establish two new parishes in addition to many new houses. JGA Haan was appointed building pastor on 23 August 1946. The Fatima parish was founded on 1 February 1947, but due to a building ban due to mine subsidence, construction could not take place at the planned location. However, a temporary wooden church was built with a stone facade, with a porch and a roof turret on the gable in the style of the Delft School, designed by architect Stefan Dings. The temporary church was converted into a parish house in 1954, to be demolished in 1978. The parish development was tackled vigorously by building schools, establishing the scouting club and a harmony. In 1948, a statue of Our Lady of Fatima was blessed, which served as a street scene. A cycling race was also named after Fatima. Pastor Haan tried to promote Fatima worship inside and outside his parish. The church was to become a 'great monument of Our Lady for the miners', according to LP Schols in 1947. Funds were raised for the new church, with the municipal government, the State and Oranje-Nassau mines also donating a lot of money.

Heilige Gregorius de Grote
