Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima

The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima was the first modernist church built in Lisbon, designed by architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro. It was also the first church built after the proclamation of the Republic in Portugal in 1910.

About this building

The constrction of the church began in 1936, being inaugurated in 1938. The church was awarded the Valmor and Municipal Architecture Prize, which distinguishes architectural works in the city of Lisbon. However, it was also the subject of controversy for deviating from the traditional architectural style of the churches at the time.

Lisbon Central Mosque

The construction of this mosque was completed in 1985, after about 7 years of construction. The mosque has both a dome and a minaret on its exterior, and a reception hall, a prayer hall, and an auditorium in the interior. Its architects were António Maria Braga and João Paulo Conceição.
