Monchique Parish Church

Monchique Parish Church (Igreja Matriz de Monchique) is a 16th-century church portraying different architectural styles but with a clear influence of the Manueline style.

About this building

A Manueline doorway welcomes visitors to its three-nave interior. There is an image of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception (patron saint of Portugal) on the altarpiece, attributed to the sculptor Machado de Castro. There is also a a Manueline side chapel decorated with tiles from the 18th century.

The church has a small museum exhibiting liturgical objects.
