The Church of Our Lady of the Conception (Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição) is located in Portimão, in the region of Algarve. It dates from the 15th century and has a Manueline style.
The church underwent considerable changes after the earthquake of 1755. Its medieval doorway is similar to that of the Monastery of Batalha. It has three naves separated by pillars with Tuscan capitals, four side chapels and a triple apse.
The Jesuit College and Church (Igreja do Colégio dos Jesuitas) is a former Jesuit college dating from the 17th century.
The Chapel of St Joseph (Capela de São José) is a 17th-century building dedicated to São José, patron saint of the naval carpenters who worked in shipyards near this place. It has a single nave with tiled walls.
The monastery is known by two names: Convento de Santo António and Convento de São Francisco do Praxel (or simply Convento do Praxel).
