Veli Pasha Mosque - Goulandris Paleontological Museum

The Veli Pasha Mosque is a historic Ottoman building founded in 1651 by Veli Pasha, an official who participated in Rethymno's conquest. It is said to be the oldest mosque in Rethymno.

About this building

The building has a square plan and has six domes. Its minaret stands in the northwestern corner. It was built on the remains of the Venetian church of Agios Onoufrios. 

Today the mosque houses the Paleontological Museum Rethymnon.
