St Oswald

This grey stone church is dedicated to St Oswald, whose noble example and devoted labours had done so much to secure the establishment of Christianity in the north of England. He was uncle to Osthryd , the wife and queen of King Ethelred of Mercia and believed to be founder of Bardney Abbey. When Oswald died, Osthryd brought his honoured relics to the Abbey.
