Monastery of Agia Eleousa

The Monastery of Metamorphosis tou Sotiros was built probably in the early 17th century. Today, there remains only the Church of the Assumption, renovated in the 19th century after the siege of the island by the Ottomans, in search of Ali Pasha who had taken refuge on the island (1740-1822).
The monastery of Profitis Ilias is located on the highest point of the island and was probably founded in the 15th century. The current monastery dates from the 19th century, as are the oldest frescoes still visible. The monastery of Profitis Ilias is one of the seven monasteries of Ioannina Island.
The Monastery of Agios Nikolaos Ntiliou also known as Monastery Dili or Strategopoulos is one of the seven monasteries of Ioannina Island. It was probably founded in the 13th century by the Stratigopoulos family, refugees who fled the Sack of Constantinople in 1204.
