Sanctuary of Notre-Dame de la Salette
One year after the apparitions of 18 September 1846, when the Virgin appeared to two shepherds, the abbot of Kermenguy had an oratory erected in N.D. de la Salette, the first in France. Too small, it was replaced by the present building in 1848. A pardon is celebrated there every year in mid-September. Numerous retreats used to take place there.
About this building
At the top of a hill in Saint Martin des Champs, here is this chapel with a slender silhouette! In the countryside, the 17 m high building overlooks the river of Morlaix, on the road to Carantec. After major work, it has regained its superb appearance.
