The Gisela Chapel is in Trinity Square very close the St Michael’s Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and the Franciscan Church.
The legend goes that when the pagans attacked Veszprém, Queen Gisela was the only member of the royal family at the castle. When the King came to rescue her, the castle was surrounded by the Turks. He managed to sneak in following the signs his wife made with a cross. The Turks, alarmed that he had entered the castle, decided to leave Veszprém. Later, the King built a chapel in honour of his wife at the exact spot where she waved to him to guide him.
