Saint Ladislaus Church
St Ladislaus Church is a 19th-century Neo-Romanesque church built on a hill next to Stephen I of Hungary Viaduct in Veszprém.
About this building
The church stands on a hill on which once stood a church dedicated to St. Margaret of Antioch. Archaeological research in the area uncovered stone carvings dating from the 11th and 12th centuries, which are to date the oldest evidence of the existence of a Christian temple on the site. The pass of the Turks left the site in ruins until 1740, when a small chapel was built on the hill in honour to St Ladislaus.
The current church was built in 1902 by commission of the prelate canon Dr. József Fejérvári and has been functioning as the parish church of its district since 1941.
