Väskinde Church

Väskinde Church is one of the 92 medieval churches on the island of Gotland.

About this building

The church was built in the 13th century in Gothic style with richly decorated portals. The portal of the chancel is particularly noteworthy for its Westphalian influence, which is rare in Gotland.

Among the most important elements of the church are a 13th century triumphal cross and a baptismal font. Some remains of wall paintings from the 13th and 16th centuries were also found during the renovation works carried out in the 20th century.
