The sacred metropolitan cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption was built in the sixteenth century and designed in a Herrerian style (from the architect Juan de Herrera) with Baroque additions. Due to lack of resources, the cathedral has never been completed.
The church of Santa María de La Antigua dates back to the 12th century, the Romanesque tower and portico on the north side, are testimony of this early structure. The rest was built later on (until the 20th century) in a Gothic and neo-Gothic style.
The church of San Miguel and San Julian, built in the late 16th century, is an excellent example of Jesuit architecture, a congregation to which it belonged until 1767.
The church of San Benito el Real, erected in 1499-1515 in a Gothic style, is one of the oldest temples of Valladolid. The upper parts of the towers were destroyed in the 19th century.
