According to the original plan, this mosque would be part of a collaborative project between the then Amsterdam district De Baarsjes , the Turkish-Islamic organization Milli Görüş and housing corporation Het Oosten (now merged into Stadgenoot ). In addition to a mosque, the plan also included the construction of homes and commercial space.
