Alva Church

Alva Church is one of the 92 medieval churches on the island of Gotland.

About this building

The church was built in a Romanesque style in the 13th century. For some reason, construction of the tower ended abruptly, resulting in a lower height than expected. The church contains murals from the 16th century. Among the furnishings, there is a 12th-century baptism font by Romanesque sculptor Hegvald, a 13th-century triumphal cross.
