Eke Church

Eke Church is one of the 92 medieval churches on the island of Gotland.

About this building

The current church was built in the 13th century. The tower was added in the 14th century. Remains of a stave church have been discovered under the floor of the nave. Its style is mostly Romanesque even though it has some Gothic elements such as the tower portal. It preserves medieval wall paintings from the 13th and 15th centuries. An important element of the church is the baptismal font from the 12th century by the Romanesque sculptor Sigraf.
