Havdhem Church

Havdhem Church is one of the 92 medieval churches on the island of Gotland.

About this building

The construction of the church began in the 12th century, although tombs from the 11th century have been found in the cemetery. The tower was erected in the 13th century. There is a clear influence of Lund Cathedral's architecture on the apse, as it was a significant building site at the time. The interior preserves some fragments of Byzantine murals. The old organ of the church is now displayed at the Gotland Museum in Visby.
